2009 Rotary Club Bike-a-ThonSunday July 12th, 2009-Weissach attended the 2009 Rotary Club Bike-a-thon to support cochlear implant research at UBC, to establish the Rotary Hearing Centre at UBC and the Rotary Hearing Clinic at St. Paul's Hospital, and to support many other programs in British Columbia for the deaf and hard of hearing. The bike ride began at Brentwood mall and ending at Harrison Hot Springs. The total distance of the ride was 120 kms with 9 pit stops making for an average of 22 kms per stop. Our team encountered many uphill battles through Mission as they were forced to detour which added an extra 10 kms to the ride, but ended on a high note as they settled in the relaxing hot springs of Harrison, a victory well received and deserved. Congratulations to our team, consisting of Kai Hensler/Robert Rons/Duane Nickull with Iain Beattie as the support vehicle, who not only finished the race, but raised a total of $1,515 for the cause, great work!
Also, thank you to our sponsors: All West Insurance, Robert Frost Travellers Leasing, Scott Warren Transport Action, Robert Rons, Nicky Owers, Ivan and Diane Owers, Kerry Woodhouse, Kathy Centanni, Duane Nickull, Robert Jack, Erin Primas, Garth Seymour, and Weissach Performance. We are grateful for your support.
